Preserving Our Legacy: NiDO Boss Reiterates Importance of Cultural Heritage

Mr Chibuzo U bochi, Coordinating Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NiDO) Worldwide, says compatriots abroad will not abandon their roots, but contribute to Nigeria’s greatness.

Ubochi, Chairman of NiDO-Europe, said this in telephone interview with the News Men on Tuesday.

He spoke on the sidelines of activities to commemorate the international Father’s Day, often celebrated on June 15, yearly.

“From the Diaspora I came and with love, and reverence for our culture I was honoured.

“As we reposition NIDO-Worldwide, we do not abandon our roots, whether East, West, North or South parts of Nigeria,” he said.y

Ubochi, who was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of “Aaree Atayese of Akiriboto-Oke” by Oba Akinyele Oyewo, promised to promote cultural and traditional values.

News Men reports that the coordinating chairman was conferred with the title at the event attended by the Olufi of Gbongan land, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi (JP), Odugbemi I.

“Yes, I am your Chairman but today, permit me to also stand tall as your brother, your son, and now, the Aaree Atayese of Akiriboto-Oke.

“I will proudly carry the title alongside my other honours, including The Oke Enyi of Amainyi.

“We are fathers and the custodians of legacy: whether or not your tie collection grew today, your presence is the real gift. So, enjoy Father’s Day,” he said.

He said that Father’s Day was centered on honouring the strength, love and guidance of fathers and father figures, as well as showing appreciation and gratitude to men for the fulfilment of the responsibility
