The Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, has called on all Yewa people of Ogun State to work together to achieve the elusive political agenda
The minister stated this as a guest speaker at the 8th Distinguished Lecture Series, “Yewas Talk” organised by the Yewaland Development Forum at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on Saturday.
The theme of the lecture was ‘Yewaland: Harvesting our Potential and Opportunities towards 2027 and Beyond.’
Salako emphasized the need for the Yewa people to build bridges of understanding, across all the social, and political divides to achieve their governorship ambition in 2027.
He stated, “Elections are not won by sentiments or bravado but through hard work, strategic planning, and putting the right candidate forward.”
Salami also noted that despite their huge potential, a lack of strategic planning had made Ogun West governorship ambition elusive.
He noted, “As the gateway to Ogun State, an average Ogun State citizen wants a Yewa man as Ogun State governor but regrettably, we have not been able to properly harness these potential and opportunities towards achieving our goal.”
The event was attended by top politicians, government functionaries, business moguls, technocrats, professionals, traditional rulers, and Yewa indigenes also witnessed the investiture of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as Grand Patron of the Pan Yewa socio-cultural organisation.
